HELLO, I’M PAUL MASON
I have always been labeled as a fastidious person, careful with my possessions, precise and meticulous and someone who takes a lot of pride in whatever I do.
My father is a builder and I always wanted a career that would suit my creative and practical hands-on skills, so it was only natural that I followed in his footsteps. I studied for and completed my Carpentry apprenticeship in 1995 while working in my fathers building company.
Given my talents for attention to detail and exceptional finishing work, l was always the one called on for any building work that required finesse and craftsmanship.
A FAMILY BUSINESS
I met my wife, Philippa, in 1994 and we were married in 1996. I built our first home and we lived there for a few years before deciding that Nelson was the place we really wanted to be, so we sold up and moved to sunny Richmond.
I built another home for us in Richmond, and after getting a feel for the area, we decided to start our own building company, Mainland Homes. It was an unfortunate coincidence that our first day as a new business happened to be the same day as the 9-11 disaster! But fortunately that was the only disaster to be had, and Mainland Homes has continued to successfully build and renovate many homes in the Nelson and Tasman areas since then.
I also joined the Registered Master Builders Association and was on the Board for a time, and was amongst the first builders in New Zealand to become a Licenced Building Practitioner.
Over the years I am proud to have continued to develop my reputation for high standards of workmanship, integrity, honesty, attention to detail and a willingness to go the extra mile for my clients.
I am well aware that renovating or building your home is likely to be the biggest monetary, and emotional, investment that you will ever make. For me, being an integral part of that process is a task that I take very seriously and I enjoy being able to provide my advice and experience to make what could be a very stressful experience into what is hopefully a journey that my clients remember with pride and pleasure.
I look forward to helping you achieve the home of your dreams.
